Michigan Drunk Driving Accidents / Dram Shop Act
Michigan's alcohol related car accidents has declined steadily since 1984. In 1984 Michigan saw a peak of incidents at approximately 897 alcohol related fatalities.
According to Michigan Department of State Police in the 2008 Michigan Annual Drunk Driving Audit, "fatalities resulting from alcohol and/or drug-related crashes decreased slightly from 381 in 2007 to 379 in
2008..." However, even with such promising trends, drunk driving accidents still happen, and when they effect you or your family it can be trying to say the least.

According to Michigan's Dram Shop Act, "The transaction giving rise to liability under the Dram Shop Act is an 'unlawful selling, giving, or furnishing of alcoholic liquor to the minor or visibly intoxicated person.'" These means that the establishment that furnishes the drunk driver alcohol may
also be found liable.
